“I’m not a professional politician. I’m a small business owner concerned with the direction of not only my community, but my state and my country,” said the Bridgewater Republican who is making a bid for a second two-year term.

“I pride myself on having common sense and a good work ethic. I’m proud of my 100 percent voting record,” he said.

D’Emilia counts among his accomplishments:

· lobbying successfully to have Bridgewater’s annual prison mitigation payment this year and working on full restoration of the $190,000 for next year;

· working with residents, former Town Manager Troy Clarkson and Councilor Bill Wood to get a traffic signal installed at the intersection of High and Broad streets in Bridgewater;

· filing legislation to boost funding for Bristol and Plymouth county mosquito control programs in the wake of the death of Raynham resident Martin Newfield last year of eastern equine encephalitis; and;

· pushing for casino legislation in response to “a clear message” from the town of Raynham to move in that direction.

D’Emilia, who was appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee as a freshman legislator, said that’s almost unheard of.

“I think that says something about the minority leader’s level of confidence in me,” D’Emilia said.
